Ugghhhh…fucking disgusting. The guy carving on her stopped too early. He should have cut that big growth off thats sitting on top of her shoulders called her head. Apparently there is nothing but dead space up in there…
looks cool but damn…why not just get a normal tattoo? i mean, i could see how scarification has its use in a tribal/spiritual setting but other then that…could get blood poisoning or anything, not to mention would be a bitch to wear a shirt/sleep or anything like that for quite a while.
Its called scarification, there are no pictures of the end results. The entire idea is to scar a particular pattern on your body.
Depending on she scars, it could potentially be kinda cool looking. The process is gross, but isn’t there a huge thing about “pain in beauty” or something like that?
Nothing says hot like being 50 years old and having a giant nasty half sagging scar in the shape of a halfassed bamboo grove on your back.
“Grandma? What’s that nasty lump on your back?”
“Well Billy thats from when I was desperate to find something to set me apart from the other tools around me”
“Did it work?”
“No Billy. Thats why I have HIV”
does look pretty cool, but keep in mind it hasnt completely healed. the problem with scarification is that the scarring itself is unpredictable- you think its gruesome now, youve yet to see the horror which is keloid growing out of control. hopefully that doesnt happen to this chick- otherwise it wont bear any resemblance to the design (bamboo) whatsoever, just masses of overgrown scar tissue.
what they have no papper were shes from? couldnt just draw it on papper, every time you see someone you want to show it to you just pull it out of your pocket unfold it and show it off just like you would a tatt. pretty much. i dont get it i stopped drawing on myself when i was a little kid…come on.
its scarification, its not dumb, its just another something that people can do that can make there body look different. No matter how you look at it, its art and some people enjoy it enough to have it done to them, it may not be beautiful to you but its there body so what say do you have? Personaly i think its amazing, not for me but if i see it im not gonna say anything bad, but rather some compliments
it was her choice to do what she did. stop being such assholes, art is art, and everyone sees it differently. i think it’s gorgeous, it’s a way of expressing ones self.
Scarification procedures are very safe, and when healed they look really good for a long time. Its a popular alternative to tattoos among more devoted body modification aficionados. You may think it’s disgusting, but it’s her body and getting this modification was her choice.
It’s bad form not posting the name of the scarification artist. He probably doesn’t appreciate you showing off his work without giving any credit. Especially on an ad supported site.
I wonder how much beer she drank (See first pic). Kinda defeats the whole “I’m hardcore” element of it, so she might as well have gotten a tattoo-it would have healed faster and been less prone to infection.
Still, it’s her body, and the work overall looks good Enjoy showing it off – I know I love having my tats showing as much as possible
If you do not understand that look up scurvy and read about it, it is not a concern for americans or 99% of the world (my statistic just to keep people from worrying about it) but it is interesting, nonetheless.
I have ink tattoos and I know they will lose their fine detail and look funny when I am old, but it is my choice and if I stretch my skin to get rid of my wrinkles when I am 80, you will almost be able to make them out
Scarification is a very interesting practice and I rank it with branding in the gross-out scale, but when they heal, they look different than any ink tattoo (albeit with a lot less detail for obvious reasons)
I can understand why she never shows her face. Odd, that tattoo on her right arm looks identical to the one a blond receptionist has where I work. Oddly enough, she recently returned from a “medical leave”, which was about two months.
I hope it’s just a coincidence.
Go buy a painting or something. Women, your body is beautiful as it is, don’t go messing it up like this! I like how people call this “art” and the perpetrator an “artist”. Anyone willing to scar someone for life, all for a measly wad of cash, is sicker than the poor sap that thinks it’s “cool” or “their choice”. There are things in life that will always be “sick and wrong”.
are you guys freakin kidding me? this is hot on girls. i love it when girls get piercings and tattoos and even body mods like this. there is nothing fake about this either so noone else jump on jerks band wagon.
You might consider extreme as a noun – today people are doing much more obvious alterations on their face etc… tattoo just doesnt have as big of an impact as it used to – people got something to say and damn-it they will f**king say it!!! apparently the peaceful bamboo and critters flitting around doesnt say CALM like sitting through serious hours of skin removal!?
I’m sure she considered the consequences of this before she had it done people, just because you don’t like it doesn’t means shes going to regret having it done when shes 70, you can’t go somewhere on a whim and get something like this done with no thought.
Do I like scarification? No, I wouldn’t get it done, I do however respect that a lot of people like it and can get it done if they want to. I actually think this looks pretty cool, I’m going to look at some more scarification pics and find out more about it.
If you don’t like scarification and/or tattoos thats fine but don’t judge people because they choose to modify their body in some way. Most girls have pierced ears and wear make up, thats a form of modification, just a less extreme one. People from all cultures have been decorating their bodies for thousands of years and people who do it permanantly think about it a great deal and have to wait months from booking before they have it done. Peoples ideas of beauty vary and this is one persons view.
To the person who said this wasn’t art but “sick and wrong”, the only thing sick and wrong is stopping people doing what they want with their lives and their bodies. If this is her idea of beauty, then she should be able to do it. I’m currently researching artists to get a scarification of my own, for reasons which mean alot to me. It’s not low self esteem, it’s showing on the outside part of what’s on the inside. I suppose some of you think we should all be blonde, white and blue eyed, because some of us are different and want to change what’s on the outside to be closer to what we are on the inside and what we want our bodies, clothes and lives to be, not what we’re told to be.
The best scarification I saw was of a girl who’d recovered from selfharming who had her scars branded over to form a koi carp, to turn something bad (a reminder of her bad past) into something positive, a peice of artwork.
wow, you guys need to lighten up. scarification has been around for far longer than tattoos, and it is practiced all over the world. scarification is a choice, and if you don’t like it, well, don’t have it done!
People who are concerned that TATTOOS and BODY MODS will make their wrinkly bodies look “uglier” when they’re 70 are vain and need to realize that you’re not going to look like you were when you were 25 regardless, and that a tattoo is not going to make it any worse. If you’re LUCKY and HEALTHY you’ll still have a body that functions properly and can still stay in shape, the last thing on your mind will be how you look “at the beach”.
Plastic surgery can be just as unhealthy and dangerous as body modification, and no one raises a stink about that. Plastic surgery is no different than scarification or other body mods, it’s just that it’s built around a beauty standard, so it’s more acceptable.
Epic fail, please delete your site if you have no idea what youre going to talk about. This is skin removal scarification and its getting to be quite common.
Say it to my face! It’s me, girl with the scar. My names Corinna. No, I am not emotionally disturbed. I was not crying out for help or acceptance. I was simply interested in an art form that has been going on for thousands of years in many different cultures. I could have gotten a tattoo, yes…but I wasn’t purely doing it for the work. I was doing it for the experience. I feel that being able to concentrate through pain makes you a stronger person. I can call on that experience when things get tough and remind myself that if I want to, I can get through anything. I also really love that it is textured, that you can feel the design…not just see it. It has healed beautifully. I have had it for almost four years now. You can see healed photos on my myspace page. (www.myspace.com/corinnaseipp)
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I can see how people are disturbed by these images, but I just hope people can open their minds a little and accept both what I have done, and what other cultures are doing across the world. As for the people who liked it, thanks!
Also, someone assumed I had been drinking. Totally untrue. I was completely sober of any drugs or alcohol when I received the piece. As for all of you who say it will look gross healed, it’s held up beautifully and I anticipate to get another few years out of it before it lightens so much you cant see it. At that point I will get tattooed around the scar. I’m not worried about what my back will look like at 70. First off, I’m sure I wont be wearing anything backless. Second, tattoos look like shit when you’re 70 too, thats not going to stop me from getting them. Third, if I live to 70 I am sure the last thing on my mind will be the back piece I got 50 years prior.
I can see why people get a bit disturbed by such images. I can also understand why people like getting these done. I can’t, however, see why people don’t want to have an open mind about someone elses views.
It’s so easy to bash someone openly on the internet for something that you know nothing about. Do some research, learn the facts and keep your thoughts to yourself.
uh gross. “Baby, you are so sexy with your scars, I just love those bumps on your back when we are together.”
there = the scissors are over there, on the table
they’re = a contraction of they are – they’re crazy for cutting strips of flesh off their bodies.
their = indicates a possessive pronoun – those are bit of their flesh lying on the table
Nothing is fun when you’re 85. I think it’s cool looking/she’s forever impressive to me since there is no way i would have been able to go through that.
